The 6th Forum on Tax and Crime of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development took place on 5-7 December 2023 in Rome.

The important event was held at the General Headquarters of the Guardia di Finanza and was organized by the Directorate of European and International Tax Affairs for the Italian Minister of Economy and Finance and the II Department of the General Headquarters of the Guardia di Finanza, with the support of the Permanent Delegation of Italy to the International Organisations in Paris.

The meeting was opened by the Deputy Minister of the Economy and Finance – Hon. Prof. Maurizio Leo -, by the General Commander of the Guardia di Finanze – Gen.C.A. Andrea De Gennaro – and the Deputy Secretary General of the OECD – Prof. Fabrizia Lapecorella and over 200 delegates participated, including numerous heads of the tax Administrations of various countries around the world.

The Forum on Tax and Crime is an important event organized by the OECD Task Force on Tax Crimes and Other Crimes (TFTC), an international working group in which both the 38 member states of the Paris based organization and non-member countries participate.

The TFTC supports global efforts to eliminate illicit financial flows through the implementation of the “Oslo Dialogue”, a strategy launched in 2011 to promote cross-cutting approaches to combating tax crime and other economic and financial crimes. The main mission is to repress illicit financial flows and today is more important than ever in the face of the new wave of threats and vulnerabilities deriving from the economic crisis generated by war conflicts, the continuous growth of cyber crime and new technologies.

Italy and the Guardia di Finanza, once again, have confirmed themselves as protagonists on the international scene in the fight against tax and financial crimes.
