The Permanent Representation of Italy to the International Organizations in Paris hosted a conversation with the writer Gianrico Carofiglio at the OECD headquarters.
The event is part of the 25th Week of the Italian Language in the World, the Italian Miniatry of Foreign Affaairs – Farnesina’s main event to promote the Italian language and culture internationally.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Luca Sabbatucci emphasized that this meeting marked the first time the Representation celebrated the Week of the Italian Language in the World.

The Ambassador then announced the creation of the Italian-speaking community within the Parisian multilateral system, in line with the global initiative promoted by Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, who has organized the First International Conference of Italian-speaking People for November 19th. Considered the pioneer of the Italian legal thriller, Carofiglio also distinguished himself as an essayist, reflecting on the importance of language and the risks and potential arising from its use. The meeting, titled “In Precise Words,” was dedicated to his book of the same name: a lucid and rigorous reflection on the relationship between words and truth, between the use of language and the exercise of power, and the ethical responsibility of honest and fair communication.
