The Permanent Representation of Italy to the International Organizations in Paris organized an event to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the Republic.
At the OECD headquarters, the diplomatic mission gathered the Italian officials of the International Organizations based in Paris to which it is accredited, their leaders and members of the diplomatic corps operating in the multilateral context of Paris.
Ambassador Luca Sabbatucci, in his speech, emphasized the added value of Italian personnel in the Parisian International Organizations, OECD, European Space Agency and International Energy Agency above all. Sabbatucci, who since January 2024 has been elected President of the External Relations Committee of the OECD, recalled the global importance of the Organization. “We can look to the future relying on a wide range of successes and results, among which I would like to recall the concrete contributions and activities carried out by the Organization outside its borders – he underlined –
A commitment that is all the more significant in the current complex geopolitical scenario, marked by growing tensions, widespread instability, ongoing conflicts and intolerable suffering for civilian populations, even in areas very close and particularly dear to my country, such as Ukraine and the Middle East”.
The event was also attended by the Secretary General of the OECD, Mathias Cormann, who in a heartfelt speech underlined the importance of the work carried out daily by Italy within the Organization, stating that “Italy’s path since 1946 is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved with the commitment to democracy, multilateral cooperation and global responsibility.”
The initiative had the Lazio Region as its protagonist. In addition to the tasting of typical products and regional wines, the public was able to attend a live performance dedicated to Lazio’s popular culture. It will be staged by a musical duo, composed of Federica Torrice and Roberto Boccacci, and a couple of dancers, Giorgio Quintiliani and Samanta Chiavarelli.
