MENA-OECD Governance Programme, Ambassador Luca Sabbatucci co-chairs the Friends of MENA Meeting

In his capacity as co-chair of the MENA-OECD Governance Programme, Ambassador Luca Sabbatucci co-chaired yesterday the Friends of MENA Meeting, open to the participation of MENA diplomats. Gathering representatives from 28 MENA and OECD Countries, the Meeting has offered the occasion to discuss the impact of global challenges on the MENA region and the next steps of the MENA-OECD Initiative on Governance and Competitiveness.

In his interventions, Amb. Sabbatucci highlighted the relevance of the partnership between OECD and the MENA Countries, which is even more vital in a time of unprecedented crises as the one we are facing.

Looking at the future, he stressed the need to include Africa in the bigger picture, emphasizing that the priority recognized by the OECD to the partnership with the Continent is an opportunity also for the MENA Initiative. He also highlighted the importance to build synergies at all levels, both within the OECD and outside, to gain new ideas and strengthened tools to implement them.
