In 2020, 1.5 billionstudents in 188 countries/economieswerelocked out of theirschools. Students everywherehavebeenfaced with schoolsthat are open oneday and closed the next, causing massive disruption to theirlearning.
With the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemicstillraging, manyeducationsystems are stillstruggling, and the situation isconstantlyevolving. The OECD – in collaboration with UNESCO, UNICEF and The World Bank – hasbeenmonitoring the situation acrosscountries and collecting data on howeachsystemisresponding to the crisis, from schoolclosures and remote learning, to teachervaccination and gradualreturns to in-classinstruction.
This report presents the preliminaryfindings from thissurvey, providing a snapshot of the situation oneyearinto the COVID crisis.
