VICE-MINISTER FIORAMONTI TO THE OECD HIGH LEVEL ROUNDTABLE ON SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY POLICY

Lorenzo Fioramonti, Vice-Minister for Education, University and Research, participated today, 2019 April 4th, in the opening session of the High-Level Roundtable of the OECD Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy (CSTP): “Creating Science, Technology and Innovation Policies for Society”. The session in which the Vice-Minister intervened was entitled: “Are mission-oriented programmes an efficient way for government to influence research and innovation?” and it dealt with issues related to the ways in which Governments may promote research and innovation to face major, pressing, societal challenges, such as climate change, public health and social inclusion. Vice-Minister Fioramonti focused particularly on the need to think and act in an integrated and co-operative way, being aware that mission-oriented programs are nevertheless cross-cutting all Government’s areas. During the same day the Vice-Minister had also the opportunity to meet a group of Italian analysts and economists working at the OECD, which informed him about some relevant activities in which they are currently involved; they also exchanged some ideas and opinions about themes which could be relevant for our Country and that could be developed by the OECD.
