On 11 and 12 March the OECD “Going Digital” Summit took place in Paris, at the Conference Center of the Organization. This high-level event had the main purpose to discuss the results of the first two years of the “Going Digital project”, which had involved more than OECD 10 Directorates. The Italian delegation participating in the event was led by Mr. Marco Bellezza, Legal Advisor to the Deputy Prime-Minister Luigi Di Maio. Mr. Bellezza, invited to the session on “Policy Making in the Digital Age”, made a specific intervention to underscore as current and next years’ industrial policy cannot avoid to start from the impact of digital transformation. Along the session on “Taxation in Digital Age”, Prof. Fabrizia Lapecorella, Finance Department Director, expressed Italy’s support to the work, being carried out by the OECD, to reach consensus on long term solutions to answer to the challenges arisen from the digitalization of the economy; at the same time she explained the political reason that moved Italy to introduce a tax on digital transactions, while awaiting for a long term solution .
The event was the occasion to present the “Going Digital Synthesis Report” and to launch the publication “Measuring the Digital Transformation”, together with the first version of the “Going Digital Toolkit ”.
