The web portal of the Italian Song is on line

The Ministry of cultural heritage and tourism (MiBACT) has launched the web portal of the Italian Song (www.canzoneitaliana.it) which for the first time has brought together a hundred years of music in one library. About 200,000 songs in one catalog, one of the largest sound archives in Europe, which has been created thanks to the valuable work of the Central Institute for Sound and Audiovisual Heritage (ICBSA, formerly “Discoteca di Stato”) in collaboration with Spotify, the Swedish music service which, for this project, allows you to listen to free songs from the second half of 1900, in their original version certified by the Institute.
Divided into four large areas (1900-1950, 1950-2000, popular traditions and special contributions), the web portal of the Italian Song offers over 22,000 tracks made available for free streaming along with informative notes by the Central Institute for Sound and Audiovisual Heritage. The web portal is a full testimonial of Italian musical heritage, which constitutes a real encyclopedia. The website, available in 7 languages (English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Chinese, and Japanese), represents the number zero of a product that over time will be enriched and supplemented with new songs and four playlist per month, open to the contribution of important artists.
In addition to offering a comprehensive overview of Italian music, the web portal documents the popular origins, even through a great number of unreleased recordings of the Central Institute for Sound and Audiovisual Heritage, but also the high-level ones, with “arias” and “romanze” (romances) of the early twentieth century.

Along with the web portal, there also the social media profiles of the Italian song, where the stories of Italian musical heritage will be narrated and appreciated every day, with new content and contributions from artists. The social media profiles of the Italian Song #canzoneitaliana are Facebook (@canzoneITA), Instagram (@canzoneitaliana), and Twitter (@canzoneITA).
