Ambassador Alessandro Busacca, together with his Polish counterpart, Aleksander Surdej, and Miriam Koreen, Deputy Director of the OECD Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Local Development and Tourism, intervened in the introductory remarks on institutional aspects of the seminar. The seminar was a joint Italian and Polish initiative on alternative financing for SMEs and took place on July 7th at the OECD.
In his introductory speech, the Ambassador stressed the strengths of the small and medium enterprises, which remain the backbone of the productive fabric of our country, as well as the main economic policy measures (Minibonds, Individual Savings Plans and Equity Crowdfunding, among others) aimed at solving one of their main challenges, i.e. their excessive reliance on bank credit.
During the seminar, two successful experiences in this field were discussed: the NewConnect in Poland, which fosters co-financing of innovative companies in order to allow small and medium enterprises to grow, and Elite, an international ecosystem that fosters the growth of small and medium enterprises not only through innovative forms of financing, but also through training and counseling services.
