During the meeting, the Italian Minister expressed his appreciation for the study and research work carried out by the OECD and reiterated the centrality of bilateral collaboration with Italy, with particular reference to the education and vocational training sector.
A collaboration that sees our country among the first contributors to the organization and that includes the participation of the Ministry of Education in programs such as, for example, the PISA Program (Program for International Student Assessment) aimed at veryfing skills in reading, mathematics and science of students who are about to finish their compulsory schooling, or the Comparative Survey TALIS (Teacher and Learning International Study) that examines the salient aspects of the professional activity of teachers and school managers of primary secondary school degree.
A synergy that this year has been further extended to collaboration within the Italian Presidency of the G20 that, in the Education sector, will focus on various issues such as the fight against educational poverty and early school leaving, mixed teaching and new educational approaches and the theme of transitions from school to work.
Minister Patrizio Bianchi highlighted the crucial role of education and training in ensuring lasting and sustainable growth, noting the important contribution that the OECD can make to the reflection of the international community on the recovery of education and vocational training systems after the epidemiological emergency. An investment in education and knowledge, concluded the Minister, appears essential to overcome the crisis and achieve sustainable development able of ensuring peace and stability worldwide.
