The Italian Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Paris, Ambassador Luca Sabbatucci, met today with the Executive Secretary of Eutelsat IGO, Piotr Dmochowski-Lipski. The purpose of the meeting was the presentation of the Ambassadr’s credentials and a general review of the activities of the Inter Governamental Organization.
The European Telecommunications Satellite Organization, EUTELSAT, was created in 1977 by 17 European countries, members of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT), with the purpose of operating a European telecommunications satellite system.
Today 49 states are members of Eutelsat, whose role is to monitor the work of Eutelsat SA, the operating commercial company, namely in order to ensure that the latter abides by the Basic Principles of the Convention that regulates the relationship between the two parties. These principles refer, synthetically, to the commitment for universal public service, for pan-European coverage and for a non-discriminatory and fairly-competitive access to its services.
