Renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding between Guardia di Finanza and OECD, relating to the continuation of the Centre of The OECD International Academy for Tax and Financial Crime Investigation at the Ostia Economic and Financial Police School

On 10 June 2022, the Memorandum of Understanding related to the collaboration on capacity building between Guardia di Finanza and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development was renewed.

The Centre was established by means of a Memorandum of Understanding between the OECD and the Italian Guardia di Finanza in 2014 through the International Academy for Tax and Financial Crime Investigation at the Ostia Economic and Financial Police School.

The General Commander of Guardia di Finanza, Gen.C.A. Giuseppe Zafarana, accompanied by the Commander of the Economic and Financial Police School, Gen. C.A. Vito Augelli and by the Head of the II Department of the General Headquarter, Gen.D. Cosimo Di Gesù, attended the OECD headquarters to sign the renewal of the MoU.

The signing ceremony took place within the 2022 OECD Ministerial Council Meeting, under the Italian presidency, in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Daniele Franco, of the OECD Secretary General, Mr. Mathias Cormann, the Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Yoshiki Takeuchi and the Director of the Center for Tax and Administrative Policies, Mr. Pascal Saint-Amans. The circumstance confirms the important success and contribution of Italy, and in particular the Guardia di Finanza, in the field of international training for investigations and the fight against various forms of economic and financial crime.

The Academy is currently involved in organizing courses within the OECD-MENA project, to deliver intensive capacity building courses aimed at tax crime investigators and competent officials, in particular, from developing countries of the Middle East and North Africa.
