Eutelsat-IGO (Inter-governmental-Organisation) is the intergovernmental entity which maintains the orbital and transmission rights over the radio frequencies collectively assigned to its member states by the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) and which, since 2001, have been used by Eutelsat<\/span><\/span> SA, an operating company incorporated under French law, specially created in that year.<\/span><\/span> Eutelsat-IGO, currently made up of 49 countries, including Italy, has the task of monitoring the operating company Eutelsat SA, in particular so that it complies with the Basic Principles envisaged in the Convention which governs relations between the two parties.<\/span><\/span> These Principles concern universal public service commitments, pan-European coverage, fair competition and non-discrimination in access to services.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The highest representative body of Eutelsat-IGO is the Assembly of the Parties (AP) which provides for the meeting of the 49 member countries of the organization and which is held every two years;<\/span><\/span> in the intermediate period, every 6 months, the Consultative Committee (CC) meets, made up of a small number of countries, identified at each meeting of the PA.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

In May 2023, the Assembly of the Parties appointed the Parties of Bulgaria, France, Hungary, Italy<\/strong>, Liechtenstein, Romania, Switzerland and T\u00fcrkiye to the Advisory Committee until the next regular meeting of the Assembly of the Parties to be held in the first quarter of 2025<\/span><\/span> .<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Every 4 years, the Assembly of the Parties elects the Executive Secretary, who leads the activity of Eutelsat-IGO, on a mandate from the Assembly and is also its Legal Representative.<\/span><\/span> In March 2021, at the 42nd meeting of the Assembly of the Parties, the mandate of the executive secretary, Piotr Dmochowski-Lipski, was renewed for a period of four years starting from 2 July 2021.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
