WEBINAR: NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGY FOR SAFETY AND HEALTH (16/9)

The Permanent Delegation of Italy to the International Organizations in Paris, together with the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA), is pleased to invite you to a webinar organised with the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA):
Nuclear technology for safety and health
Radioisotopes and radiation protection
16 September 2021 11.30 a.m. – 1.00 p.m.
This event will be the first of a series of thematic webinars through which we will discuss in depth the use of nuclear technology in areas not directly related to energy production. The aim is to understand Italy’s role in this field of research, in the international context and, particularly, in the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA). Research efforts in the nuclear sector in Italy will be bolstered by a better understanding of what other countries – not only neighbouring ones – are doing in this field, in order to collaborate on common safety and regulatory issues through the international organizations that address such matters. For example, nuclear medicine, which is the topic of the first discussion, plays a leading role in the treatment of many serious diseases and the technological questions that accompany its use and development are often the subject of discussion at the international level. The seminar will address, from both a technical and socio-economic perspective, the topic of the production and availability of medical radioisotopes, as well as the main safety and radiation protection issues in medical applications of nuclear technology. The webinar will be in Italian and English, with simultaneous translation.
