The inaugural meeting of the Inclusive Forum on Carbon Mitigation Approaches (IFCMA) took place in Paris on 9 and 10 February. The initiative originates from discussions at the tax symposium held on the sidelines of the G20 Finance Ministers’ meeting in Venice in July 2021, during Italy’s G20 presidency. Also under the Italian Presidency, the OECD Council in its ministerial meeting last June 2022 formally adopted the ambitious initiative.
With the aim of discussing ways to increase the reduction of carbon emissions and the global impact of efforts to this end through improved international collaboration, the first IFCMA meeting was attended by 607 senior officials, representing 103 countries and jurisdictions and 9 international organizations.
Italy was represented by Ambassador Sabbatucci and Councillor Frandi from the Permament Representation and by a delegation composed of: Aldo Ravazzi and Mario Iannotti of MASE, Susan Battles of MEF-Treasury, Guido Manfellotto and Gionata Castaldi of MEF-Finance.
