OECD WEEK Paris, 20-23 May 2019: Forum and Ministerial Council Meeting (MCM)

On 20-23 May, OECD Week 2019 (www.oecd.org) will take place, the most important annual meeting of the Paris-based Organization, which includes the Forum and the MCM (Ministerial Council Meeting).

On 20-21 May, the Forum, entitled “World in EMotion” (www.oecd.org/forum/home), will address three main themes: A new Societal Contract; Integrity and Trust; Digitalisation and the Future of Work; International Co-operation. In 2019, the Forum will also celebrate its 20th anniversary, an opportunity to bring together representatives of politics, businesses and civil society to reflect and dialogue on the great number of social, economic and political change, including disruptive change, taking place, largely amplified by digitalization and globalization. In particular, the participants will reflect on what needs to happen to ensure such changes, with the opportunities and challenges they entail, bring us together, rather than divide us.

On 22-23 May, the MCM, chaired this year by the Slovak Republic, with Canada and Korea as co-chairs, will discuss domestic and international public policies that can fully harness the great potential of digitalisation and address its disruptive effects, in areas such as competition, taxation, data governance, skills, inclusive growth, environment and trade. The participants will also discuss the role that the OECD can play in supporting member and partner countries as they navigate the digital transition for the benefit of all citizens. (“Harnessing digital transition for sustainable development: opportunities and challenges”). Attendance to all sessions is by invitation only. The program is available at www.oecd.org/mcm/.
